Working Residential Structure Fire

At 0148 Hrs Station 44, Ambulance 64, and Km6 were dispatched for a working residential structure fire. Engine 44-2 made the response with a crew of 7 under the command of 44-19(E.Neeld). Kent Center advised Smyrna PD was on scene with Smoke Showing. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find fire showing on the "delta" side of the residence. Crews pulled a 200ft 1 1/2" handline and made access to the front door. It was determined that there was actually two separate apartments inside of this house. A first floor and a second floor apartment. Crews pulled out of the first floor apartment and had to make forceful entry to the second floor apartment. Crews experienced fire on the second floor extending in to the third floor attic area. Ladder 44 arrived on scene and was instructed to split the crew with half the crew throwing ground ladders and half doing a primary search. Crews pulled 400ft of 5 inch supply line to the hyrdrant. Engine 3 arrived on scene and pulled a second hand line for a back up line and went to the second floor. Interior crews advised that they were have a hard time getting to the attic. Crews went to the roof and started to do vertical ventilation, to assist with making access to the attic. Station 45 was requested to the scene for an Engine and Station 53 was dispatched for a Engine Cover. The Scene was placed under control at 0226 Hrs. Crews Operated for approx 2 additional hours with overhaul and assisting the fire marshal.
