Head-on MVC with entrapment - 400 Block of Glenwood Ave.

At 1531 the CHC along with Amb. 64, KM-9, & T-4 were alerted to a report MVC with entrapment on Glenwood Ave. in the area of X-BOS. E44-4 responded within minutes under command of 44-17(Neeld), followed shortly by E44-3, & 44-0. Upon arrival crews found a 2 vehicle head-on type MVC with EMS crews already on scene assessing 2 patients. The driver of the white vehicle required extrication. The crew from 4 stabilized the vehicle and began extrication. Upon arrival of 44-3 its crew assisted with extrication, and the crew from 44-0 established a LZ for Trooper 4. The pt was extricated after the drivers door was removed and transferred to D-64 for assessment. The pt was eventually transferred to T-4 and transported to CER as a Priority 1. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to KGH by A-43 & KM-6. Command placed the scene under control and the scene was turned over to SPD for investigation.
Units responding: E44-4, E44-3, 44-0, D-64, A-43, KM-9 & KM-6, Trooper 4, SPD, & 44 Fire Police. Asst. Chief Dave Neeld had command.
The following article is from the Smyrna-Clayton Sun Times in reference to the accident. The operator of the white vehicle eventually succumbed to his injuries while in Christiana Hospital.
