Passing of Past President C. Albert O'Neal Jr. - Smyrna
Friday, August 31, 2007

On this date the Citizens' Hose Co. No. 1 Inc. lost life member, and Past President C. Albert O'Neal Jr., better known to many as "Junior."  Albert passed away surrounded by his family and loved ones after an extensive illness.

Albert joined the CHC as a probationary member on May 7, 1951, and it did not take him long to become very active within the company.  He attended 3909 alarms during his time with the company and he held many offices.  Most notably he held the office of President in 1965 & 1966 and the office of Vice President in 1964.  He was on the Board of Directors for 16 years, Board of Trustees for 4 years, and served off and on as the Fire Recorder for many years.  He also served on numerous committees; most notable was being the Chairman of the Engine Room Committee responsible for the building of the current engine room in 1970.   As a fire line officer Albert held the office of Lieutenant for 9 years, and was an engineer for 10 years.

Albert was made a life member of the CHC on Dec. 31, 1967, and he was also made a 50 year member of the DVFA on September 25, 2003.

The CHC would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to all of Albert's family and friends.
