Townhouse with fire showing from the rear - 29 Salerno Dr., Cambria Village

At 1537 Sta. 44 units were dispatched for a reported working townhouse fire in the Cambria Village Development. E44-2 under command of Chief Embert responded at 1539 with a crew of 6. While en-route Kent Center advised that neighbors reported an elderly subject may be trapped inside. Upon 10-2 44-15 reported fire showing from the rear. Half of the crew from 44-2 pulled a 1 3/4" handline and began to attack the fire on the outside of the structure, while the other half forced entry and began a search for any residents. On its arrival the crew from 44-3 established water supply, and assisted with extinguishment. The crew from 44-4 stretched a 1 1/2" handline into the front door, and up to the second floor. They assisted with ventilation and checking for extension. Primary and secondary searches came up negative for any trapped residents. The bulk of the fire was contained to the outside of the residence, with some extension into the kitchen and up to the second floor through voids in the ceiling. Damage to the second floor was contained to smoke and heat damage. Crews remained on scene for some time performing overhaul and assisting FM-13. Units were in service for 1 hr. and 20 minutes, and 47 members responded. One firefighter suffered an ankle injury during clean-up while helping to re-rack hose. He was transported to KGH by B-64. Units responding: E44-2, 44-3, 44-4, R-44, B-64, SPD, FM-13, and Town of Smyrna Electric Dept. OIC was Chief John L. Embert III.
