Assist Sta. 53 with truck fire - 2100 block of Hurd Rd.

At 1142 Sta. 44 was alerted to assist Sta. 53(Leipsic) on a reported truck fire. E44-4 under command of Capt Isaac Hankins responded within minutes with a crew of 7. 44-4 was the first unit to arrive followed shortly by 53-6. Units found a 6 wheel farm truck in a field with fire in the engine and cab compartments. The truck was hauling dry fertilizer for farm use. The crew from 44-4 pulled a 1 3/4" foam line and quickly knocked down down the fire. The crew from 53-6 also pulled its booster line and assisted with extinguishment. Crews remained on scene for several more minutes wetting down the truck. The fire did not spread to the chemicals or fertilizer in the rear of the truck. Incident was placed 10-1 by 53-6 officer, and units soon cleared. All 44 units were back in quarters at 1220. The CHC had 36 men in service for 38 minutes. OIC was Capt. Isaac J.
