Passing of Life Member David Morris - Drexel Hill, PA

The Officers and Members of the Citizens' Hose Co. No 1 Inc. regret to announce the passing of Life Member David W. Morris. He joined the company on October 6, 1980 and answered 1,695 alarms during his time with us. He served as an Assistant Engineer from 1988-1990. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. David W. Morris Age 59, of Drexel Hill died May 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born in West Grove, PA and the son of the late David C. and Florence G. (Frist) Morris. He was a graduate of Oxford H.S., Class of 1968. He received a Fire Engineering degree in Fire Science from DE Technical & Community Collage. Mr. Morris retired in 2007 after 34 years of service as Assistant Chief at Dover Air Force Base and was Deputy Chief while a member of the DE Air National Guard. He was a past Fire Marshall for West Conshohocken Boro and a member of the George Clay Fire Co in West Conshohocken. He was a life member of Citizens Hose Co. in Smyrna, in addition to playing in the Fire Company Band. Mr. Morris was an Eagle Scout, who enjoyed model trains, was a NASCAR enthusiast and a member of the Archer Epler Musketeer Drum and Bugle Corp. Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Kimberley (Wentzel) Morris of Drexel Hill, PA; his children: Christopher Morris, Oxford, PA, Michael Morris, Clayton, DE, and Thomas Morris, Drexel Hill, PA; his step children: Jessica Kelly, Havertown, PA, and Kenneth Kelly, Drexel Hill, PA; and his brother, Kenneth Morris, Rising Sun, MD. Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 6-9pm at Doyle-Stonelake Funeral Home, 85 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA l9050, and Friday morning 10-11am at Drexel Hill United Methodist Church followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial, Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the charity of donor's choice, in David's memory would be greatly appreciated. The Citizens' Hose Co. Memorial service will be held at 1900 on Sunday, May 8th, at the Smyrna Firehouse.
