MVC - head-on - Rt. 13 SB @ S. Carter Rd.

At 1744 CHC units, Amb. 64, KM 6&5, & T-4 were dispatched to a reported MVC reported head-on with entrapment. E44-4 under command of 44-17(Hankins) responded within 2 minutes, shortly followed by R44 & 44-10. Upon arrival units found a 3 vehicle MVC in the intersection, with 2 vehicles sustaining heavy damage. After quick assessment of the scene no pts were found to be trapped but that there were 6 potential pt. 44-17 requested an additional 3 BLS units, and a second ALS unit per KM6. Crews from 44-4 assisted 64 with pt care and packaging of the pts in the pick-up, while the crews from R-44 began pt care and packaging of the pts from the mini-van prior to arrival of the BLS. A total of 5 pts were transport to KGH by A&B 64, B-43, and KM-6. A-26 also responded to assist, but were cancelled, pts from the third vehicle left the scene. 44-17 placed the scene under control at 1808. 44-4 remained on scene to assist with clean-up until the vehicles could be towed away due to the large amount of oil and fluids in the roadway. All 44 units were in quarters at 1843.
Sta. 44 units were in service for 59 minutes, and 53 members responded to assist. OIC was 2nd Asst. Chief Isaac J. Hankins.
