MVC with entrapment in front of station - 200 Block of W. Commerce St.

At approximately 1945 while about 25 CHC members, and 5 Leipsic members were attending the DSFS class on Response to Hybrid Vehicle Incidents,a loud "boom" was heard outside the station. Upon investigation a MVC had just occured next to the station. Members put thier gear on and investigated the crash. Crews found a single vehicle had struck a large block retaining wall, and the driver was trapped in the car. 44-17 assumed command, and requested ALS/BLS, and placed 44-4, & R-44 on scene. Crews stabilized the car, and began extrication of the driver. After using Hurst tools to remove both drivers side doors, and B-post, the driver was extricated at 2005 and TOT EMS units for care. The driver was transported to KGH by 64 & KM6. All unit were back in quarters at 2018.
CHC units were in service for 33 minutes, and had 38 members respond. OIC was 2nd Asst. Chief Isaac Hankins.
Units responding: 44-4, R44, 44-10, Crew from 53-2, A-64, KM-6, KM-5, T-4, and SPD.
Thanks to the crew of 53-2 who also assisted on the scene while there for the training class.
