Rollover with fire - a/o 352 Paul Dr., Glenwood Development
Thursday, December 13, 2012
At 0027 the CHC was dispatched for a reported car fire in the area of 352 Paul Dr. in the Glenwood development. E44-4 under command of 44-18(Jarrell) responded within minutes shortly followed by R-44. While en-route units were advised Smyrna PD was on-scene and reporting a MVC with vehicle on its side, and possibly still on fire. Upon arrival crews found a 3 vehicle MVC with a pick-up on its drivers side in the front yard of a house just feet from the front door. SPD had used several dry chemical extinguishers on the truck but the vehicle was still smoking. Crews wet down the engine compartment, but with smoke still coming out of the cab, crews stabilized the vehicle using "junkyard dog", and cribbing before gaining access to the cab to check out any possible fire. Once the truck was stabilized crews made entry and extinguished any remaining smoldering areas. Two parked cars were also heavily damaged in the MVC. The driver of the pick-up was transported to KGH by A-64 for minor injuries. 44-18 placed the scene under control at 0046, and after clean-up all units were back in quarters at 0108.
The CHC had 19 members in service for 42 minutes. OIC was Capt. Brian Jarrell.
Units responding: E44-4, R44, 44-0, A-64, & SPD.
