32nd Seaford Volunteer Softball Tournament - Seaford, DE
Saturday, August 17, 2013
Saturday morning 14 members made the trip down to the Jays Nest ballfields in Seaford, DE. for the 32nd Annual Seaford Volunteer Firemans Tournament which is a charity sofball tournament that benifits the Delaware Burn Camp. The company played a total of 3 games on Saturday. The first game was at 10am against Millsboro, where the company won 16-1 in the 5th inning. Game 2 was played at 2pm against Dagsboro, who had a bye on the first round of games, where the team was defeated 12-0. Which give the team its first lost in the double elimination tournament. The 3rd game for the day, was played at 6pm against Seaford, where we won 17-9, which meant that the team will advance to the second day of games on Sunday.
Sunday Aug. 18th the team made the trip back down to Seaford for a 11am game against Little Creek. Due to the rain storms that were moving through the area, the game was delayed so crews could try and dry the fields. After a half hour delay the game finally got underway. Little Creek defeated us 21-2, which eliminated us from advancing farther through the tournament. Even though the team got eliminated, everybody had a great time just hanging out and playing together. Plans are already underway to return next year again to help raise money for the Burn Camp. Special thanks to Jack Wilson and the Seaford VFC for putting this great event on.
