H. Thomas Tucker Memorial Scholarship Presentation - Smyrna High School
Thursday, May 28, 2015

On Thursday May 28th, 2015, Board Member S. Christopher Hudson attended the Smyrna High School Senior Scholarship ceremony to present the H. Thomas Tucker Memorial Scholarship. "H. Thomas Tucker is the only member of the Citizens’ Hose Company history ever to lose his life in the line of duty. Sadly Tommy was only 19 years old. He joined on February 5, 1979 as a school probational member later becoming a full member on June 1, 1981. Tommy was Fireman of the Year, attending the most alarms in 1980. He received awards for the second highest fires in 1979 and 1981. In total he responded to 798 fires from 1979 to 1982. In his four years Tommy dedicated so much of his life to serving his community and helping others, it is in his honor that we give this $2,500 scholarship annually, to a deserving Smyrna High School student attending college. This recipient has given their time and efforts assisting others which helps makes our community a better place. Please join me in congratulating our 32nd recipient of this scholarship to Miss Jenna Scuse."
