Car fire with exposure to barn - 5065 DuPont Parkway, Smyrna
Friday, October 30, 2015
At 2044 the CHC was alerted for a car fire in the 5000 block of Dupont Parkway. Within minutes E44-4 responded under command of 44-16(Jarrell). Upon responding Kent Center advised command that they received a second call from the RP stating that the vehicle was against a barn and the barn was now on fire. The alarm was upgraded by Kent Center to a structure fire response, adding Sta. 26(Townsend) for an Engine & Tanker. E44-2, T-44, & L44 also made the response once it was upgraded. Upon arrival crews found a small station wagon on a dolly trailer fully involved against a barn. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and no extension was found into the barn. The vehicles fuel tank was also full and had an active leak so crews had to use extra water and extinguishers to extinguish the leaking fuel. Command placed the scene under control and crews remained on scene wetting down the vehicle and packing up for several more minutes. Command also requested a FM response to the scene. All units cleared the scene turning it over to DSP & DSFMO.
Units responding: E44-4, E44-2, T-44, R-44, T-26, E26, DSFMO, DSP, & 44/26 Fire Police. 1st Asst. Chief Brian Jarrell had command.
