Rescue Assist Sta. 26 on MVC with entrapment - Rt. 1 NB @ Blackbird Creek

At 0643 the CHC was dispatched for a Rescue assist NCC Sta. 26(Townsend) on a MVC with rollover and entrapment. Rescue 44 responded within minutes under command of Past Chief Brooks Keen. 26-2 was already on scene, and confirmed one pt heavily trapped with a prolonged extrication. Upon arrival crews were assigned to assist with extrication of the Priority 1 trapped driver. Rescue 44 was also requested to set up its light tower. Crews stabilized the truck with cribbing and Junkyard Dog struts. Once the vehicle was stablized crews began extrication. Crews utilized sawzalls, air chisel, and Hurst Tools to remove the entire roof, and all the pillars. Once the roof was flapped down and removed, crews were able to assist KM-6 and A-64 with removing the pt and immobilizing him to a backboard. The driver was then flown to CER by Trooper 4 heavy. CHC crews remained on scene to assist with cleaning up the scene. R44 was clear and back in quarters by 0746.
CHC personnel were in service for 1 hour and 3 minutes. 23 members responded to assist, and OIC of CHC units was Past Chief Brooks R. Keen.
