Basement fire contained quickly before extension - 262 W. Pembrooke Dr., Wicksfield

At 0338 hours Station 44 along with Ladder Company 45, Ambulance 64, and KM-6 were dispatched to 262 W. Pembrooke Dr. in the Wickfield development for a reported basement fire. E44-2 made the response under the command of 44-19 (E.Neeld) with a crew of 6 followed shortly by Ladder 44. While responding, Kent Center advised, that there was a Past Chief on scene confirming a smoke condition in the basement. Just prior to arriving on scene Ambulance 64 advised that they had a single patient. 44-2 arrived on location to find a 2 story, single family dwelling with light smoke showing from the first floor. The Engine crew pulled a 1-3/4" hand line and advanced it to the basement. A 5" supply line was hand stretched to the hydrant which was out front of the residence. Ladder 44 and Quint 45 arrived on scene and assumed the truck company operations by throwing ground ladders and securing the utilities. Additional units arrived on scene and assisted with primary and secondary searches. 44-18(interior)advised that they found an active fire in the basement, and were in the process of knocking the fire. Interior advised the fire was knocked and that they were checking for extension. Interior crews also advised that the primary and secondary searches were negative. The scene was placed under control at 0401 hrs, holding the situation to the units on scene. FM19 arrived on scene and conducted the investigation. Fire was contained to a small utility room. All units cleared and the scene was turned over to the home owner. Captain Eric Neeld had Wicksfield command.
