Ladder & Rescue assist 45 on working commercial structure fire - 100 South Bassett St., Clayton

At 1732 hrs Station 45, Ladder and Rescue Co. 44, RIT Co. 51, Ambulance 64, and KM 6 were dispatched to 100 South Bassett Street in Clayton for a working commercial structure fire at Henry's Custom Woodworks. Command 45(45-15) arrived on scene to find a 40 x 100 single story commercial structure with heavy smoke showing. After a 360 command advised that he then had fire showing on the Charlie/Delta side. Ladder 44 made the response under the command of 44-21(Torres), followed by Engine 44-3 and Rescue 44. Ladder 44 arrived on scene and was directed to the Alpha/Bravo side and place the main in service. Crews from Ladder 44 assisted with providing vertical ventilation. 44-3 arrived and the Engine staged at a nearby hydrant, while the crew assisted with fire attack. Rescue 44 arrived and was instructed to stage behind Ladder 44 and send the crew to assist with primary and secondary searches. Bassett Street Command placed the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes with all units working. CHC crews remained on scene and assisted with overhaul, and breaking down hose lines. All Station 44 units were back in quarters by 1900 hrs. While the 3 CHC units were operating on the fire ground, the station was staffed by two additional Engine crews of members to protect the district. During the past week Station 44 units have responded to 4 working fires; which included a 3 alarm house fire in Cheswold's first due, a house fire in Townsend's first due, and 2 in-district MVC's with entrapment.
