Hay Fire - Thoroughfare Neck Rd and Collins Beach Rd

At 5:20am, CHC was dispatched for a Fire Nature Unknown in the area of Thoroughfare Neck Road and Collins Beach Road. 44-2 made the response within minutes under command of 44-15 (Jarrell), followed by Ladder, Tanker and 44-0. 44-2 arrived in the area to find a hay pile on fire down a dirt trail on the State land. 44-15 staged Ladder on Collins Beach Rd and had Tanker and 44-0 to continue down the trail to the pile. 44-15 required the State Forestry Service to response with a dozer and Deldot to respond with a Gradall to help pull apart the pile. Around 9:30am station 53 was dispatch for a Tanker and Engine to the scene for addition water. Once the fire was determined to be safe, the forestry service cut a fire line around the pile, and remaining bit of hay was let to burn. All units cleared at 3pm. 44-15 Chief Brian Jarrell had Thoroughfare Neck Command. Units Responded: 44-2, Ladder 44, Tanker 44, 44-0, 44-8, Tanker 53, 53-4, State Forestry Service with 1 Engine and 3 Bulldozers, FM28, DNREC, DelDot with Gradall.
