Working house fire with subject trapped - 275 Shorty Ln., Smyrna Landing

On Nov. 19th at 1818 CHC units were dispatched to a reported working house fire, with possible subjects trapped.  Engine 44-2 with 44-15 went 10-8 with a full crew within minutes. While en-route Kent Center advised that Smyrna PD was on scene, confirming a working alarm with a subject still inside.  Upon 10-2 heavy smoke and fire were evident from the front of residence.   The crew from 44-2 advanced a 1 3/4" handline into the front door, while the crew from 44-3 advanced a 1 3/4" line into the rear.  Crews quickly knocked down the fire in the living room and kitchen area.   After the fire was knocked down crews from 44-2 & R-44 began a primary search in which they found a victim lying on the floor of the main fire room.  The pt was found to be 10-91, and pronounced by Medic 66.  Crews remained on scene for another hour performing overhaul, and assisting the DSFMO.  During the fire, crews also rescued a cat from the residence and gave it to EMS crews for aid.   Scene was TOT FM-13 and DSP.  Units responding: 44-2, 44-3, 44-4, R-44, T-44, A-64, Medic 66 & 65, DSP, SPD, FM-13, DSFMO, & Kent County SPCA.  A total of 65 members were in service for 1 hr 45 min. OIC was Chief Jonh L. Embert III.
