Control Burn of abandoned structure - 4832 N. DuPont Blvd., Smyrna

At 0700 crews participated in the control burn of an abandoned structure. The owners of the property wanted the house burnt due to its poor condition, and to clear the property in order to sell the property. Crews utilized the burn to train numerous new probational members on hose handling and operation skills, and utilized the burn to also get some new operators pump time. Crews were on scene for approzimately 2 hours. Thanks to Sta. 53(Leipsic) for assisting with a Tanker in case extra water was needed. Units on scene: E44-3, E44-4, T44, 44-8, T53-7, 44 & 45 Fire Police, & Delmarva Power. Captain Brian Jarrell was in charge of the burn and had been the contact for DNREC & the homeowner to go through all the proper procedures of obtaining all permits and documents needed.
